Maintenance tips
Olijo pieces are carefully crafted from precious, delicate materials. Here are a few precautions for use and care to preserve the beauty and brilliance of your jewelry.
Delicate materials
Like all noble materials, natural stones, selected for their shimmering colors, are fragile and can be scratched or even broken.
Although the most solid of all gemstones, diamonds are also sensitive to impact, so it's best to be careful and avoid shocks. It can also be damaging to other materials, as it can scratch metal, precious stones or other diamonds.
Everyday life
All jewelry worn on a daily basis will naturally show signs of wear. Here are a few tips to help you keep your jewelry looking its best for longer:
- Removeyour rings when washing your hands
- Don't wear your jewelry during strenuous sports activities
- Avoid wearing your jewelry when using corrosive products or during sudden temperature changes (e.g. when washing dishes, cleaning or gardening).
- And don't expose them to cosmetics or perfumes.
Storage
We strongly recommend that you store your jewelry carefully when you're not wearing it. Each piece of jewelry should be stored separately in its own case (or fabric pouch) to avoid damage, scratches or loss!
Maintenance and repairs
To keep your OLIJO jewel sparkling, we recommend regular cleaning: gently scrub it with a soft-bristled toothbrush in hot, soapy water or washing-up liquid. This will remove any small dirt or dust without damaging it. Please note, however, that this type of treatment is not recommended for pearls and emeralds.
We advise you to check your jewelry regularly to see if it has taken a knock or if a stone is moving (place the jewelry to your ear and shake it slightly to detect a slight noise). In this case, stop wearing it and contact us as soon as possible to have it checked by a specialist. We'll be delighted to welcome you and look for the best possible solution to repair it (insofar as technology allows).
If from time to time you're looking for a refurbishment to restore your jewel to its original lustre, come and visit us and we'll be delighted to repolish or re-engrave it in our Parisian workshops.
