Maintenance tips

Olijo jewellery is carefully crafted from precious, delicate materials. Here are a few precautions for use and care to help you preserve the beauty and sparkle of your jewellery.

Delicate materials

Like all noble materials, natural stone, selected for its shimmering colours, is fragile and can be scratched or even broken.

Diamonds, although the most solid of all precious stones, are also sensitive to impact, so it's best to be careful and avoid shocks. It can also damage other materials, as it can scratch metal, a precious stone or another diamond.

Daily life

All jewellery worn on a daily basis will naturally show signs of wear and tear. To make sure that your jewellery lasts longer, here are a few tips to keep in mind:

  • Remove your rings when washing your hands
  • Don't wear your jewellery when doing strenuous sports activities
  • Avoid wearing your jewellery when using corrosive products or when there is a sudden change in temperature (e.g. when washing up, cleaning or gardening).
  • Don't expose them to cosmetics or perfumes either

Storage

We strongly recommend that you store your jewellery carefully when you are not wearing it. Each piece of jewellery should be stored separately in its case (or a cloth pouch) to avoid knocks, scratches or losing it!

Maintenance and repairs

To keep your OLIJO jewellery sparkling, we recommend that you clean it regularly: gently scrub it with a soft bristle toothbrush in hot soapy water or washing-up liquid. This will remove any small dirt or dust without damaging it. However, this type of treatment is not recommended for pearls or emeralds.

We advise you to check your jewellery regularly to see if it has taken a knock or if a stone is moving (place the jewellery to your ear and shake it slightly to detect a slight noise). If this happens, stop wearing it and contact us as soon as possible to have it checked by a specialist. We'll be delighted to welcome you and look for the best possible solution to repair it (insofar as technology allows).

If from time to time you'd like to have your jewellery refurbished to its original shine, come and visit us and we'll be delighted to repair or re-polish it in our Paris workshops.
